Constructing and negotiating space in the early modern urban economy

04-10-2012

The aim of this paper is to deal with some historiographical, theoretical and methodological issues regarding economic life in the early modern European (and more specifically French) urban landscape. The paper will also develop some key aspects of my past and current research on Lyon in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, regarding more specifically the various uses of urban space by economic actors - both men and women - and the links between licit and illicit economy.
